General:
What is a zine?
A zine is a collection of artistic works (mostly written/drawn) all centered around a theme. This zine is specifically a fanzine, which means it is made by fans and for fans who all follow the theme of the zine. It’s comparable to a book or magazine!
What is this zine about?
This zine will be centered on content creator Wilbur Soot. The zine will include fan-creations featuring Wilbur's content, from the DSMP to the Skyblock Randomizer Challenge Series, and more!
Is NSFW allowed in the zine?
No. This zine is strictly SFW.
Is this zine for profit or for charity?
This is a non-profit zine. Any profits left from covering the costs of production will be donated to charity. We will share the charity donation receipt on our socials as a confirmation.
Creation:
Can I reuse a piece that I created earlier?
No. All pieces must be original and created exclusively for this zine.
How long do we have to create our piece(s)?
You’ll have around 3.5 months from the acceptance deadline, with check-ins every month.
When will I be allowed to post my full piece publicly?
Once pre-orders close, buyers have received their packages, and leftover sales are being readied, you will be allowed to post your full piece. Otherwise, you may post previews that showcase no more than 50% of your piece.
Can I use my piece in portfolios after I finish it?
Yes. Until you are allowed to post it, however, we ask that you only use it in private portfolios that you are sharing with the moderators of that zine only. We also ask that you include a note that the piece is not to be distributed.
Can I sell my finished piece/use it on personal merchandise?
Yes, of course. You may do so after leftover sales have ended, and at no prior point.
If I were to be an artist (or an author), do I have to be very active in the Wilbur community?
Nope, anyone who’s interested in contributing to the wilbur zine can participate! You don’t have to be active on Wilburtwt or any wilbur related social media.
Can I participate if I’m under 18?
Yes, of course! You must be at least 13 so that we’re in compliance with Discord’s TOS, but you’re allowed to participate even if you’re a minor.
IC Questions:Does the mod team have prior experiences with merch making or other ways of showing their ability to handle finances, storage, shipping etc?
A few mods have had experience producing merch. We’ll be opening applications for finance and production/shipping mods later on.
How many people are you planning to let participate?
This depends on the responses we receive on the interest check. However, we will most likely be accepting around 5-8 merch artists, 15-30 page artists, and 5-7 writers maximum. These numbers may be subject to change depending on the volume and quality of the applications we receive later on.
Is traditional art allowed?
Yes, as long as it’s properly scanned or photographed. Please photograph the art under good lighting and cropped to the appropriate size. Please scan your art if possible!
Has the mod team managed community events with deadlines etc before?
Yes! A couple of the mods have or currently are running other zines; Traffic Zine, dsmpfashionzine/Drömserver, DSMPfanzine/Unfinished Symphony, XDivination, Anthem of Freedom and more! Some others have organized other fan events such as gift exchanges, big bangs and other collaborative events.
What is the expected shipping cost?
As of right now we are unable to provide a concrete answer, but we’ll let you know when we can!.
Would there be a theme for the zine like wilbur fashion? Or would it just be Wilbur in general?
There will be no specific theme overall, just that all pieces should be Wilbur-centric. If any contributor wants to include a theme in their work, they’re free to do so.
